Good news, "Primetime" fans. Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is rolling out its real-time documentary style series for two upcoming title fights.
And neither of them feature Georges St. Pierre!
Indeed, the promotion has announced it will bring "Primetime" back to the FX channel for the Jon Jones vs. Rashad Evans light heavyweight championship showdown slotted for UFC 145 on April 21, 2012, in Atlanta, Georgia.
Air dates and times on FX are as follows:
Episode 1: Fri., April 6, 2012, at 11 p.m. ET
Episode 2: Fri., April 13, 2012, at 11 p.m. ET
Episode 3: Fri., April 20, 2012, at 11 p.m. ET
Jones and Evans aren't the only ones getting the big hype treatment.
Brazilian knockout artist Junior dos Santos will defend his heavyweight championship for the very first time against Alistair Overeem at UFC 146 on May 26, 2012, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
And for the second time in a row, "Cigano" will have cameras following his every move as he prepares for the biggest fight of his life.
Air dates and times on FX are as follows:
Episode 1: Fri., May 11, 2012, at 11 p.m. ET
Episode 2: Fri., May 18, 2012, at 11 p.m. ET
Episode 3: Fri., May 25, 2012, at 11 p.m. ET
All subsequent re-airs of UFC "Primetime" will air on FUEL TV.
With Brock Lesnar retired and Georges St. Pierre possibly out until next year, the UFC needs to do everything it can to pump buyrates on pay-per-view. Will an extended build for two big title fights do the trick?
